I’m not sure to be honest. We didn’t have much luggage since we arrived at Lake Constance specifically for this cycling trip. So we only had a backpack each with just the stuff we’d need for the next three days – changes of clothes, toothbrush, etc.

Hi, did you find any ones who transfer luggage? We are considering a cycling trip too and would like to book our own accommodation.

I booked my stays in advance but I’m sure you can find something at the last minute too. However, this will probably be more expensive compared to booking in advance as Bodensee is hugely popular in summer. Maybe consider planning your trip for weekdays in this case.

Hi Sarah, if you mean the Rhine Falls, then yes, this itinerary does not include it. To me, this is too much of a detour for just three days but obviously, I don’t know how much you cycle and what your priorities are.

What is the most picturesque itinerary is a subjective thing, so I’ll leave it for you to decide. That’s one I did myself and I was pretty happy with it. As for luggage, as far as I know, there are lockers at Constance train station.

With regards to booking, if you know where you want to stay, then the earlier you book, the higher your chances to find a conveniently located accommodation that’s not overly expensive.

We haven’t personally rented, as we have our own bikes, but yes, there are a bunch of rentals around Lake Constance. In Friedrichshafen, you could try https://fahrradverleih-friedrichshafen.com/ (25 EUR per day for an e-bike) – though their website is in German only. And then near the city of Constance, https://www.rentabike.ch/ has two outlets – they have an English version of the website and an online booking system.

These are just the two I quickly checked, there are others as well. Some hotels rent bikes out too. Normally, in Germany and Switzerland, any rental will have e-bikes as well as regular bikes.
